Saul Kent was born in 1931. A Brooklynite until the age of 35, he received his entire education—elementary school through post-graduate college—in New York City’s public system. He spent his career in the city’s public schools, where he taught at all levels. He served as an assistant principal and acting principal at an elementary school in Harlem during the turbulent 1960s and early ’70s. Now retired, Saul lives in Colorado with his daughter and son-in-law.
